group wading

there is a beautiful trail with a creek on the other end of town.

these were mostly for foot protection (there is plenty of broken glass) since they’d fill up pretty quickly. : )

there are oodles of photos, so many more to sort through…but these give you a sense of what it was like!

this was a great way to spend a friday.

volcano?

we were outside with a slightly strange looking volcano.

getting ready

we used up the rest of the baking soda and vinegar.

good times

woa!

even i was surprised!

woa!

again, the expressions are wonderful:

yeah

after we did a few group experiments, we brought out the individual supplies:

bottoms up?

darling

there was an impressive amount of restraint:

pouring

exciting times.

the kids’ expressions are so wonderful.  what i am sad about is that my camera battery died on thursday morning.  trust me, their expressions were fabulous too (especially the one little girl that i thought was nervous and it turns out she reported she was bored.  so bored she couldn’t fall asleep that night.  oops.).  waiting for things to get started is understandably boring…these kids will be pros.

i is for i’m a volcano…

hum “i’m a little teapot” and then use these words:

i'm a volcano...

i’m a volcano wide and tall (arms wide, then tall):

i'm a volcano...

i'm a volcano...

i am so strong, i will not fall (show big arm muscles).

when i am ready you will see (crouch down and tremble):

i'm a volcano...

lava bursting out of me (jump up and use arms as exploding lava):

i'm a volcano...
