  1. Teacher Tom

We had a day a couple weeks ago when there was only one kid interested in our block area and one parent working that station. The parent happened to be an architect. The boy wanted to build a building “taller than me,” so they went to work, but it kept falling. The parent then started teaching him about buttresses and other architectural features that they then used to support their ever taller building. While the rest of the kids played elsewhere, the building got taller and taller until they had created a freestanding tower that touched the ceiling — she was lifting him so that he could add blocks!
